Takeman’s game party
Troy Akey, known as takeman on KLOV and RGVAC, had his first annual (I hope) game party in McHenry IL. All I can say is WOW! Troy’s games and game room are amazing to behold. Every machine was either in pristine original condition or a fantastic restoration, with superb attention to detail. It felt like I had walked into the grand opening of some new arcade in 1984. I made the hour plus trek up to McHenry with Bill Karkula and Jeff Rothe of rotheblog. It was a little tough to find his place in the dark, but we made it. Troy built a 1600 sq ft building adjacent to his home that holds his arcade and a good size wood shop/work space. I think the XO football is his only NIB game, but it was really hard to tell the difference. Troy and his wife were great hosts and it was nice to meet some new people and see some old friends. Enjoy the pictures.

@Brian Jones: His game room is very nice. I think he plans to do some decorating at some point, too. The collectors here in the Chicago area really are lucky to have so many good collections and collectors local, makes it a lot more fun!

Troy’s work is amazing. We agreed that it was like visiting a classic car showroom but the only difference is the keys are in the ignition and you can drive ‘em.

[...] As I said, Troy Akey has an amazing gameroom and there are a ton of photos that have already been posted in the original Chicago game party announcement on Klov, day after party thread, and a post about “Takeman’s” arcade game party on Tokens Only. [...]
