Chicagoland Show Fall 2008

Today I took my oldest son with me to visit the Chicagoland Antique Advertising, Slot-Machine and Jukebox Show; or Chicagoland Show for short. The show is a Spring/Fall bi-annual event held at The Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles IL. The show has been going on for years and is usually packed with unusual items to buy.

Chicagoland Show

This time I was on a quest to find a good sign for my game room, something token related. 4 tokens for $1, Tokens Only, Machines require tokens, etc. Anything token related. I’ve been to the show in the past and usually walk away with something arcade related, and this show was no exception. While I couldn’t find the sign I was after, I did bring home a working Moon Base CT in fantastic shape and a copy of the DVD “Life After Death III, Warehouse Raid”. In the process I got a chance to meet Kevin Steele of gameroom magazine fame. We chatted briefly about the show and he even let me get a picture with him. The show had a lot of pins, vids and anything game room you could think of. Well, except a token sign! My son and I played the games, took lots of pic (that’s him next to Yoda) and got our fill of game room goodies. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Holy crap! You weren’t lying – that was a lot of pics! Bet you guys had a lot of fun. What a great representation of the different generations of coin-op stuff. I wish I were there to buy that leg lamp!

@NoCashValue: It was fun, but it can be a bit overwhelming. I mean there was so much stuff it started to all look the same, plus duplicate machines for sale. 2x Popeye and I think it was 3x Fireball (both pins). How often does that happen?

Did they auction the arcade games at this show? Or was it ‘You pay listed price’, that’s the only option…

Tons of stuff there, just stuff….That is a crazy looking pin with the clown artwork, you will have to have someone who knows their pins look at this and indentify it.

How many years has this show been taking place? This is the one Lloyd usually shows up to, correct?

No photos of Wu and Troy? Ninety Six Freaking photos and you left out those two?

  4. cnlmoore Says:

@Jeff Rothe: Stuff was being sold at price listed, but everything is negotiable to some extent. Especially on the last day when dealers would rather not pack it up and haul it home!

The show has been going on for 15 years I think? Lloyd doesn’t actually show, he sends his minions.

Troy was camera shy and Wu is in the background of the Leg Lamp.
